EU Commission must pay compensation over improper data transfer, EU court says

( January 8, 2025, 10:22 GMT | Official Statement) -- Today, the EU's General Court has ordered the European Commission to pay €400 in damages to a German citizen whose personal data was transferred to the United States without adequate safeguards. The court ruled that the commission violated EU data protection rules by allowing the transmission of the individual's IP address and other personal information to Meta, via a "Sign in with Facebook" option on one of its websites....
