New state aid rules for sustainable transport published by EU Commission

( March 16, 2026, 10:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission has published new guidelines on how countries can support sustainable forms of transport such as rail and inland waterways. The State Aid Land and Multimodal Transport Guidelines are accompanied by a State Aid Transport Block Exemption Regulation, which sets out what kind of aid is exempted from a requirement to notify it for approval. “These rules simplify procedures and facilitate public support for sustainable transport solutions, thus contributing to a more efficient, affordable and greener European land transport,” said Teresa Ribera, the EU’s competition chief.Statement follows....
