In-depth EU probe into Lithuania's power reserve program extended

( December 12, 2025, 11:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission has widened its in-depth investigation to assess whether Lithuanian support worth €361 million to energy company AB Ignitis Gamyba for a strategic reserve for electricity covering the 2013-2018 period was in line with state aid rules. The state aid regulator said on Friday that it had reached the preliminary conclusion that the measure involves state aid. It will now further investigate to see to what extent alternative providers might have been able to provide the services, including considering a different legal basis that applies to "services of general economic interest."Statement follows....
