Spanish renewable hydrogen plan wins EU state aid approval

( April 15, 2025, 09:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Spain has won European Commission approval for its plan to spend 400 million euros to boost its generation of renewable hydrogen. Production will be supported through the “Auctions-as-a-Service” tool within the European Hydrogen Bank, the commission said today. The program will back the construction of up to 345 megawatts of installed electrolyzer capacity and the production of up to 221,000 tons of renewable hydrogen in Spain, thus avoiding the emission of up to a million tons of CO2. Eligible companies will have to prove compliance with EU criteria for the production of renewable fuels of non-biological origin.Statement follows. ...
