Spain's EUR699 million to back energy storage wins state aid nod in EU

( March 17, 2025, 11:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Storage technologies in Spain will be eligible for direct grants to support the construction of new power storage capacities, under a national plan worth almost 700 million euros that won state aid approval. The program will serve as investment aid for the deployment of large-scale energy storage to ensure independence from fossil fuel imports, the European Commission said today.
