New Zealand businesses may face 'economic benefit test' for government contracts

In a statement, New Zealand Finance Minister Nicola Willis said that as part of the government’s plan to increase jobs by shifting New Zealand to a faster growth track, it is considering a new "economic benefit" test. The statement said that this test will require government agencies to consider the “wider” benefit to New Zealand of awarding contracts to businesses when making procurement decisions.
