PGI Spain, others lose appeal of Iberian measure to reduce power price at EU court

( March 12, 2025, 10:24 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: PGI Spain, and other companies including Berry Superfos and RPC Envases, today lost an appeal at the EU General Court where they were challenging a measure allowing Spain and Portugal to support the input costs of fossil-fuel technologies. The measure was cleared by the European Commission in 2022 and its ultimate goal was to lower the wholesale power price. In its judgment delivered today, the first-tier court rejected the appeal, saying that none of the pleas showed that the state aid regulator should have identified serious difficulties requiring the start of a formal investigation. The ruling is attached. Case reference is T-596/22. ...
