Micula brothers take arbitral award dispute to top EU court

( March 10, 2025, 10:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Two Romanian-Swedish investors, Ioan and Viorel Micula, along with several food and drinks companies, have filed an appeal to the bloc's top court to challenge a lower court's verdict that an arbitral award constituted illegal state aid. Last year, the General Court concluded that the arbitration award constituted an illegal economic advantage imputable to Romania. The European Commission found in 2015 that Romanian subsidies paid to the investors to compensate them for the early withdrawal of an investment-aid program needed to be recovered. The summary appeals in the following cases are attached:...
