Austria should win appeal of Hungarian aid for Paks II reactors, EU court says

( February 27, 2025, 09:24 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Austria should win its legal challenge to Hungary's investment aid for the construction of two new nuclear reactors at the Paks II nuclear power station, suggests an EU court opinion that was released today. Austria was arguing that the previous ruling wrongly confirmed that the European Commission's proportionality review was sufficient. In a non-binding legal recommendation for the bloc's highest court, Advocate General Laila Medina recommended that the Court of Justice should uphold the appeal and set aside the lower court's ruling.The press release and Advocate General opinion attached.
