Rejected approval for Romanian aid to Wizz Air, Timișoara sent back to EU lower court

( February 13, 2025, 09:20 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Romanian support measures for Timișoara airport and individual agreements with Wizz Air — originally cleared by the European Commission but annulled by the EU General Court — have now been set aside, the bloc's highest court said today. In 2023, the General Court sided with Carpatair, finding that the commission had made several mistakes when examining whether the measures were selective and whether they conferred an advantage. In today's ruling, the Court of Justice of the EU said the matter must be sent back to the lower court, citing distortions of evidence and failures to state reasons.The judgment is attached.
