( July 22, 2026, 08:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Vertex Pharmaceuticals’ proposal to acquire Crinetics Pharmaceuticals will be reviewed by Australia’s antitrust watchdog. In a statement on Wednesday, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said that Vertex, a US-based biotechnology company, currently has seven approved products for the treatment of cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease, transfusion dependent beta thalassemia, and acute pain, five of which are supplied in Australia. The regulator added that Crinetics only has Palsonify, a prescription oral medication used to treat acromegaly, and that is only available in the US.
