New Zealand competition watchdog flags non-notified mergers as new priority

The watchdog said it would continue targeting cartel conduct and supermarket competition, while adding exclusive arrangements as new priorities. It said recent investigations into exclusive supply arrangements in construction and supplier payments in the grocery sector reflect a broader increase in anticompetitive-conduct enforcement, with businesses able to expect "more action" in the year ahead.New Zealand’s competition watchdog said detecting and investigating non-notified mergers that could substantially lessen competition will become one of its five long-term enforcement priorities....
