Brazil cinema associations meet with CADE councilor on Paramount-Warner deal
By Flavia Fortes ( July 17, 2026, 20:13 GMT | Insight) -- Brazilian cinema exhibitor associations met with the office of CADE Councilor José Levi Mello do Amaral Júnior on Thursday to discuss the unconditional approval by the antitrust agency’s Superintendence of Paramount’s proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. Associação Brasileira das Empresas Exibidoras Cinematográficas Operadoras de Multiplex (ABRAPLEX) and Federação Nacional das Empresas Exibidoras Cinematográficas (FENEEC) had previously sought to participate in the merger review as interested third parties, but CADE’s investigatory unit rejected their request. The $110 billion deal’s clearance remains subject to review by CADE’s Tribunal if a councilor requests avocation within the statutory review period.
