Chinese market regulator clears 283 mergers in first half of 2026

( July 16, 2026, 08:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s State Administration for Market Regulation published data on Thursday showing that it completed 298 merger reviews in the first half of 2026. Of the total, 283 transactions were unconditionally cleared, two were approved with conditions and one was blocked. Applicants withdrew 12 filings. Manufacturing accounted for 37.1 percent of unconditional clearances, followed by utilities, transportation, financial services, real estate, and wholesale and retail. Domestic transactions accounted for 55.8 percent of unconditional clearances, and horizontal combinations accounted for 64.3 percent, while 251 deals were cleared within 30 days of acceptance.Statement follows (in Chinese). ...
