Medtronic's bid for US-based medical device company reviewed in Australia

( May 7, 2026, 00:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The proposed acquisition by Medtronic, via its indirect wholly owned subsidiary Project Saint Merger Sub, of US-based Scientia Vascular, will be reviewed by Australia’s antitrust watchdog. In a statement on Wednesday, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said Medtronic and Scientia supply neurovascular guidewires in Australia. The regulator said that Medtronic, a global healthcare technology company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, supplies its Mirage .008-inch guidewire in Australia, while Scientia supplies guidewires under its “Aristotle” brand through a third-party distributor, LifeHealthcare.
