Balearia wins Spanish nod for two asset purchases

( March 31, 2026, 13:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Balearia has received approval from Spain's competition authority for its acquisition of sole control of assets of shipping company Armas-Trasmediterránea. The acquisition of Armas's business in the Canary Islands was cleared under conditions as the deal would have otherwise created a monopoly position in the market for regular maritime transport of roll-on/roll-off cargo and passengers. The clearance is not final as it could be referred to the Council of Ministers to assess it based on general interest criteria, the watchdog said Tuesday. The acquisition related to the Strait of Gibraltar was cleared unconditionally. Statement follows....
