Allegiant, Sun Country get early termination, move up expected closing timeline

By Wesley Brown ( March 16, 2026, 14:53 GMT | Insight) -- Allegiant Travel Group and Sun Country Airlines received early termination of the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act waiting period related to their proposed merger and now expect to close in the second or third quarter of 2026, according to a press release. Allegiant agreed to acquire Sun Country Airlines on Jan. 11 for approximately $1.5 billion and the companies had expected to close in the second half of 2026.
