Walsin Investment hit with gun-jumping fine by Chinese market regulator

( January 23, 2026, 07:58 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Walsin (China) Investment, the mainland Chinese investment holding arm of Taiwan-based Walsin Lihwa, has been fined 1.75 million yuan ($251,000) for gun-jumping, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation said Friday. SAMR said Walsin (China) completed its acquisition of a stake in Hangzhou Walsin Power Cable & Wire in December 2023 before obtaining merger clearance, and only filed its notification to the regulator on Jan. 25, 2024, breaching China's Anti-Monopoly Law’s prior-notification requirement for mergers. The regulator found the transaction did not exclude or restrict competition and cut the fine within the statutory range, citing Walsin’s positive cooperation, its antitrust compliance program and the fact this was its first merger-control violation.Statement follows (in Chinese)....
