Yamaha-Telwater deal opposed by Australian antitrust watchdog

( December 18, 2025, 00:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Yamaha Motor Australia’s agreement with Bombardier Recreation Products and BRP Australia to acquire 100 percent of the shares in Telwater has been rejected by the Australian competition regulator. In a statement on Thursday, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said that the acquisition is likely to “significantly disadvantage” rival outboard motor suppliers in competing effectively with Yamaha. The regulator said it found that the combined Yamaha-Telwater entity would have both the ability and incentive to leverage Telwater’s significant market position in aluminum trailer boats into the outboard motors market.Statement follows:...
