Yamaha-Telwater deal opposed by Australian antitrust watchdog

In a statement on Thursday, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said that the acquisition is likely to “significantly disadvantage” rival outboard motor suppliers in competing effectively with Yamaha. The regulator said it found that the combined Yamaha-Telwater entity would have both the ability and incentive to leverage Telwater’s significant market position in aluminum trailer boats into the outboard motors market.Statement follows:...
