TikTok fined in Indonesia for late notification of Tokopedia acquisition

( September 29, 2025, 11:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Indonesian Competition Commission, or KPPU, on Monday fined TikTok 15 billion rupiah ($900,000) for the late notification of its acquisition of local e-commerce platform Tokopedia. The acquisition of 75.01 percent of Tokopedia shares was completed on Jan. 31, 2024, triggering a legal requirement to notify the KPPU by March 19, 2024. However, the company submitted its notification only on Aug. 7, or 88 days late. The agency said TikTok Nusantara (SG), a Singapore-registered entity, admitted the delay, cooperated during the process and had no prior violations. These factors were taken into consideration in imposing the relatively lighter fines.The full statement, in Indonesian, follows:...
