Ekspress was rightly fined for Lrytas gun-jumping, Lithuanian court says

( May 15, 2025, 10:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Estonian company Ekspress Grupp — the owner of news portal delfi.lt — was correctly fined by the Lithuanian antitrust authority, the Regional Administrative Court recently ruled. In 2023, the watchdog fined Ekspress just over 140,000 euros for acquiring Lrytas — which controls news portal Irytas.lt — without seeking approval for the deal. The court found that the Competition Council had properly assessed all the facts and other aspects of the case, including law provisions, and therefore rejected the company’s challenge as unfounded. The court also confirmed that the fine had been correctly calculated, the competition authority said.Statement follows (in Lithuanian). ...
