Carrefour-Louis Delhaize deal wins conditional French approval

( March 13, 2025, 11:37 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Food-retail chain Carrefour has received clearance to acquire control of the French operations of the Louis Delhaize group, the Autorité de la Concurrence said today. The deal is subject to the divestiture of eight stores to rival “banners” so as to ensure enough alternatives for consumers, the office said. In addition, a shopping center in the northern town of Villers-Semeuse must also be sold. Carrefour had earlier been granted a derogation from the suspensive effect of merger control, which allowed it to complete the deal ahead of the agency's decision.The full statement is attached....
