NSC's play for Wesfarmers' gas supplier Coregas faces public review in Australia

( March 13, 2025, 01:55 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The bid by multinational industrial-gas company Nippon Sanso’s Australian subsidiary NSC’ to acquire Coregas, Coregas NZ Limited and Blacksmith Jacks, currently owned by Australian conglomerate Wesfarmers, has attracted a public review by the country's competition regulator. In a market inquiries letter, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said that the proposal will result in Nippon Sanso owning Coregas, Coregas NZ Limited and Blacksmith Jacks operations in Australia while it is also the immediate parent company of Supagas, a producer and supplier of liquid petroleum gas and other industrial gases. The regulator said it will review the competitive overlap between Supagas and the combined operations of Coregas, Coregas NZ Limited, and Blacksmith Jacks, all of which produce and distribute industrial, cryogenic, medical and specialty gases, as well as LPG.The market inquiries letter published by the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission is attached....
