Nvidia's Run:ai deal goes for EU review after Italy 'calls in' transaction

( October 31, 2024, 11:24 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Nvidia will have to undergo a European Commission review of its plan to acquire Run:ai after the Italian competition authority used its new powers to "call in" the transaction even though it was not large enough to clear notification thresholds. The Italian regulator then referred the case to the commission under Article 22 of EU merger law. Nvidia, which makes graphics processing units, is acquiring Israel-based Run:ai, which supplies GPU orchestration software "allowing corporate customers to manage and optimize their artificial intelligence compute infrastructure," according to the commission....
