Naver maintains contracts shield it from broadcasters' AI copyright claims

The lawsuit, filed by Korea Broadcasting System, Seoul Broadcasting System and Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation in January 2025, centers on whether Naver was authorized to use the broadcasters’ news content for AI development. Naver doubled down on its defense on Tuesday against a copyright-infringement lawsuit filed by South Korea's top three broadcasters, maintaining that its use of news content to train its artificial intelligence models complied with fair-use principles and existing content-sharing contracts....
