Nokia signals appeal intent over jurisdiction in Warner Bros UK patent dispute

By Douglas Clarke-Williams ( February 26, 2026, 15:47 GMT | Insight) -- Nokia’s effort to have a dispute with Warner Bros and Paramount heard in Finland rather than in the English courts is likely to end up at the Court of Appeal in London after the Finnish company acknowledged that key parts of its argument ran against recent English decisions on the topic.Nokia argued on Thursday that the litigation between it and Warner Bros and Paramount over fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory, or FRAND, rates for standard-essential patents for video decoding should be heard in Finland, but it accepted that recent decisions in other cases suggested that large parts of its claim would likely be taken to the UK Court of Appeal....
