VoiceAge win signals tougher line on patent antitrust defenses in Germany

Judges rejected a rigid reading of EU negotiation rules, upheld injunctions and confirmed HMD’s damages liability, with the amount yet to be determined. Companies that use patented technology embedded in telecom standards must provide financial security if they want to rely on EU competition-law defenses, Germany’s highest court has ruled in the dispute between VoiceAge and HMD....
