Squires, an advocate for broadening patent eligibility, was confirmed via a so-called “nuclear option” vote alongside 47 other Trump administration nominees.The US Patent and Trademark Office has a new director, with John A. Squires confirmed by the Senate on Thursday in an unconventional 51-47 vote that saw him cleared alongside 47 other administration nominees. Squires now takes over the USPTO following eight months of acting leadership that saw major changes from patent policy to the office’s workforce....
