Pernod Ricard loses bid for injunction as India's top court upholds trademark ruling

By Freny Patel ( August 19, 2025, 00:11 GMT | Insight) -- French spirit giant Pernod Ricard was denied an injunction in a trademark dispute after India's top court ruled that the term "Pride" is generic and "London Pride" is not deceptively similar to "Blenders Pride." The Supreme Court of India, in its 97-page order, found no ground to interfere with the concurrent findings of two lower courts, saying that Pernod Ricard had failed to establish a prima facie case of deceptive similarity that could justify the grant of interim injunction. In a setback for the global spirits giant Pernod Ricard, India's top court has upheld the decisions of lower courts, rejecting the French company's bid for an interim injunction against a competitor....
