Anthropic seeks quick appeal in US copyright case

( July 14, 2025, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Anthropic asked a US federal judge to allow it to immediately appeal an order that maintained claims that it acted illegally over its use of pirated library books for artificial intelligence training. “The order addresses novel and consequential legal questions about the proper fair-use standard in the context of copyright-infringement challenges to groundbreaking generative artificial intelligence technology. Courts in this district have already diverged on those questions, and the answers to them will have significant implications for this case and the many other pending cases involving copyright challenges to large language models,” it argued.
