USPTO staff worries rise as layoffs back on the table

Office leadership previously warned about imminent layoffs, which never came, but the early end of an offer for experienced employees to move back into the examiner’s corps hints at action coming soon.The US federal government workforce is again worried about their jobs after the Supreme Court last week gave the Trump administration the green light to move forward with reductions-in-force, or RIFs. That includes non-examiners at the US Patent and Trademark Office who were told to prep for layoffs months ago....
