USPTO nominee Squires advances through Senate committee

The former Goldman Sachs IP chief has stood by promises to cut patent application pendency and spoken highly of congressional efforts to reform patent eligibility and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.John Squires moved one step closer to being the next director of the US Patent and Trademark Office today, with the Senate Judiciary Committee advancing his nomination to the floor in a 20-2 vote. With little opposition expected, the career patent attorney is likely to be the 60th director of the office following a full Senate vote....
