EUIPO chief hopes IP part of EU's new anti-crime agenda

By Inbar Preiss ( June 12, 2025, 10:52 GMT | Insight) -- EUIPO executive director João Negrão has joined 24 trade associations in calling on EU ministers to include intellectual property crime among the priorities of the EMPACT three-year cycle to be announced tomorrow. He vowed that IP will remain a focus in the EU's initiative to combat crime, as associations push for national justice ministers for cross-border coordination and stronger measures to combat counterfeit goods online and offline.The director of the EU Intellectual Property Office is joining a league of trade associations calling on the bloc's officials to include IP protection in the list of proprieties as part of a project to tackle organized crime....
