IndiaMART wins partial relief in Puma trademark dispute

By Freny Patel ( June 6, 2025, 08:07 GMT | Insight) -- IndiaMART, the online marketplace, can continue using brand names like "Puma" in its seller drop-down menus but must remain diligent in addressing trademark infringements. This significant ruling by a two-judge bench of the Delhi High Court sets aside a single judge ruling from 2024 that restrained IndiaMART from providing registered trademark “Puma” in its dropdown menu, following allegations by the brand that it failed to verify seller credentials. The June 2 court order found no intent by IndiaMART to promote counterfeits, but underscored that the platform must still exercise "reasonable efforts" to ensure its users do not host, display, upload or share information that infringes upon trademarks.   IndiaMART, the online marketplace, can continue using brand names like "Puma" in its seller drop-down menus but must remain diligent in addressing trademark infringements....
