UPC’s upcoming mediation center seeks input on draft rules

( May 22, 2025, 12:24 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Patent Mediation and Arbitration Centre of the Unified Patent Court has launched a public consultation on its draft Mediation Rules, inviting input from experts and companies globally until July 21. The proposed rules introduce a framework for resolving intellectual property disputes, including online proceedings and tailored provisions for cases involving standard essential patents and fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory, or Frand, terms. The PMAC is expected to open its doors by early next year as a specialized institution within the Unified Patent Court, designed to provide alternatives to patent litigation through mediation and arbitration, operating from Ljubljana and Lisbon.See press release below:...
