Public access order in Meril-Edwards patent dispute overturned by UPC

( May 6, 2025, 15:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Unified Patent Court's appellate panel has overturned three separate public access orders granted to Swat Medical and the chair of its board of directors, which granted public access to documents in a patent dispute between Meril's business units and Edwards Lifesciences Corporation. The patent dispute involved EP 3,646,825, concerning cardiac implants. The Court of Appeal sided with Meril and overturned earlier disclosure orders by default, because a statement of responses on behalf of Swat Medical hadn't been submitted by an authorized representative.
