Dispute over trade secrets clouds EU crisis licensing talks

The European Commission is trying to draft new wording for the controversial article on trade secrets, MLex understands, so far with no support from EU member states. The next negotiation meeting is scheduled for May 21 — and its outcome hinges on whether a compromise can be reached on intellectual property safeguards and licensing conditions.In discussions on a regulation that would speed up access to essential products and technology in a crisis response, EU executives, lawmakers and member states are clashing over how far compulsory licensing powers should reach....
