Nokia ramps up pressure in US on Asus, Acer, Hisense in trio of lawsuits

( April 9, 2025, 11:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Five patents declared essential to the H.264 and H.265 standards and relating to video decoding and encoding are alleged by Nokia to be infringed by Asus, Acer and Hisense in three separate complaints in the US. According to Nokia, each of the defendants breached their duty to engage in good faith negotiations for a license to US Patent Nos. 10,536,714, 11,805,267, 8,050,321, 9,036,701 and 7,532,808. Conversely, Nokia seeks a declaration that its own efforts to secure a license with the defendants were in good faith, and in line with the Finnish tech giant’s commitment to the International Telecommunications Union. Asus was sued in the Central District of California, Acer in the Western District of Texas and Hisense in the Northern District of Georgia.See attached documents....
