Lidl’s appeal against EUIPO decision in LED design rejected by EU court

( March 12, 2025, 14:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The EU's General Court has upheld the European Union Intellectual Property Office's decision to dismiss Lidl Vertriebs' invalidity claim against a design for LED light bulbs registered by an intervener, Liquidleds Lighting. Lidl had argued that an earlier design was already known to the public, but the court ruled that the disclosure was under an exception in EU design law. The court found no errors in the EUIPO's handling of the case, and ordered Lidl to pay the costs.The decision is attached. The case reference is T‑66/24....
