Apple looking likely to take a hit as Optis' UK SEPs appeal draws to a close

That looks to be the primary question after four days of argument last week in London, with one more under way today. The “building blocks” for a Frand determination were all before High Court Judge Marcus Smith, but he chose not to rely on them, appeal judges were told. The odds of Apple emerging without owing Optis more than the $62 million ordered by Smith appear slim.The UK High Court's determination of a fair, reasonable and nondiscriminatory, or Frand, license for Apple to pay Optis Cellular Technology for its portfolio of standard essential patents appears to be on the chopping block....
