Meta seeks to dismiss book authors' latest claims in US AI copyright case

( February 1, 2025, 02:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Meta Platforms is seeking to dismiss the latest copyright claims from a group of 13 authors suing the company for using their copyrighted works to train its artificial intelligence models. Authors allege Meta violated the Digital Millennium Copyright Act by removing copyright management information before using their books as training data, but they fail to allege they were injured by Meta’s removal of that data, the company said in a motion to dismiss. Also, the authors' claim that Meta violated the California Comprehensive Computer Data Access and Fraud Act "is merely a claim of copyright infringement by another name," Meta said.See document....
