Inneos fiber optics patent obvious, PTAB finds

( January 31, 2025, 14:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Patent Trial and Appeal board invalidated a fiber optics patent held by Inneos for obviousness based on prior art. Opticis filed for inter partes review for US Patent No. 7,198,416 in 2023, with the PTAB agreeing that a person with ordinary skill in the arts would combine prior inventions to make the '416 invention obvious. The IPR comes parallel to a Central District of California suit for patent infringement filed by Inneos against Opticis earlier in 2023. With the patent invalidated, the suit will likely be dismissed.See judgment attached....
