Alpinestars gets extension from UPC for defense in Dainese patent infringement case

( January 15, 2025, 16:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- Motorsport company Alpinestars is granted an extension until Feb. 27 by the Unified Patent Court for filing its Statement of Defence and counterclaim for revocation in an infringement case brought by Dainese, an Italian motor sports gear manufacturer. The extension is granted due to the upcoming oral hearing scheduled for Feb. 13 at the European Patent Office concerning an opposition to Dainese's European Patent 3,498,117. The UPC Milan Local Division found that the extension would allow Alpinestars to address the EPO's decision before proceeding further, increasing efficiency. Dainese's objection, which argued that the late request would place Alpinestars at an advantage, was dismissed as unfounded. The court emphasized that the decision respects the adversarial principle and guarantees equality for all parties involved.See court document attached....
