MediaTek secures intervention in UPC appeal to protect processor confidentiality

( January 9, 2025, 08:43 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Taiwanese semiconductor company MediaTek's application to intervene in the Unified Patent Court's appeal proceedings to safeguard its confidentiality interests in Xiaomi in its dispute with Daedalus was approved. The appeal concerns Daedalus' European Patent 2,792,100, which relates to smartphone technology. The case was initiated by Daedalus in April, claiming its patent was infringed in MediaTek's Dimensity processors used in Xiaomi's smartphones. Daedalus had appealed the denial of access for its US attorneys. Now, MediaTek sought to protect the confidentiality of its processor architecture. The court found MediaTek had a legal interest in the matter and allowed its limited intervention without delaying the proceedings....
