Perth Mint's money-laundering supervision has ended, Australian watchdog announces

( July 22, 2025, 03:24 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Perth Mint is no longer under the supervision of Australia’s financial-crime watchdog, which announced today that Gold Corporation, which operates the Western Australian mint, had strengthened its “ability to identify, mitigate and manage the risk of criminal infiltration." In a statement, the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre said the enforceable undertaking imposed on Perth Mint in November 2023 had been lifted, and that, based on an auditor’s reports, the company had met its obligations. Austrac CEO Brendan Thomas said that while trading in gold still carried significant money-laundering risks, the steps taken by the company under the enforceable undertaking had been enough to end the arrangement. The full statement from Austrac follows: ...
