AOG Technics exec charged in UK fraud office airline parts probe

The charge relates to the SFO’s probe into the alleged fraudulent sale of aircraft parts for passenger and cargo aircraft engines, the CF56 and CF6. Jose Alejandro Zamora Yrala, an AOG company director, is accused of operating AOG Technics for a fraudulent purpose, the SFO said in a statement. From 2019 to 2023 the company allegedly defrauded customers by falsifying documentation that related to the origin, status or condition of aircraft parts, according to the SFO. The company’s customers included airlines, maintenance providers and parts suppliers. Several planes around the world were grounded in 2023 after the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority, the United States’ Federal Aviation Administration, and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency issued safety alerts to airlines that may have bought or installed AOG’s parts. The UK's fraud agency opened an investigation into the company in December 2023 saying it was looking into “very serious” allegations of fraud. At the time the SFO said it raided an address in Greater London and arrested one individual in connection with the investigation. The raid was carried out alongside officers from the UK’s National Crime Agency and material was seized from the site, the SFO said. The prosecutor said today it had worked with authorities in Portugal over the suspected supply of fraudulent safety certification and parts. Last week Portuguese police searched 10 locations and made three arrests. SFO officials were in attendance at these searches....
