New Zealand man found guilty of fraud charges related to Covid-19

( May 19, 2025, 01:09 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A man in New Zealand has been found guilty of attempting to fraudulently claim millions of dollars through the Covid-19 wage-subsidy program and other government support initiatives, following a trial on charges brought by the Serious Fraud Office. In a statement, the law-enforcement agency said that Hum Min Im, an Auckland resident, had faced 91 charges relating to his attempts to claim NZ$1.88 million ($1.11 million today) from the wage-subsidy program, as well as from the Small Business Cashflow Scheme, the Covid-19 Support Payments program and the Resurgence Support Payments program.
