( September 24, 2026, 13:12 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The EU's second auction of €1 billion in subsidies for projects to decarbonize industrial process heat for manufacturing due in early December will include nuclear technologies such as small modular reactors for the first time, the European Commission has said. The so-called IF26 Heat Auction also aims to support other technologies to reduce emissions from generating heat including electrified technologies such as heat pumps and thermal storages, and direct renewable heat from solar, thermal, or geothermal sources, it said.
