BRICS antitrust regulators target competition risks in renewable-energy markets

The agreement was reached at an Aug. 8 meeting in Udaipur hosted by India’s antitrust regulator, the Competition Commission of India, under India’s 2026 BRICS chairship. The heads of antitrust authorities adopted a joint statement committing them to promote competitive renewable-energy markets and increase information and knowledge sharing on emerging competition issues associated with the energy transition. The agreement was accompanied by the findings of a CCI-led BRICS study, “Emerging Competition Landscape in the Renewable Energy Sector in BRICS,” examining competition dynamics across member jurisdictions and identifying areas for future cooperation.
