India’s EU carbon levy bill less than average emissions suggest, think tank says

Existing lower-carbon steel capacity could cover much of the country’s EU-bound output without fresh investment, allowing exporters to limit costs as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism is phased in.Indian exports to the EU may face a much smaller effective cost from the European bloc’s carbon border tax than suggested by estimates based on India’s average emissions, as producers can direct existing lower-carbon steel capacity toward the EU market, according to a report....
